Very similar to the Foxtail palm, Wodyetia bifurcata . In fact, the two palms are very difficult to tell apart, the main difference being that N. normanbyi has a silverish tinge to the underside of the leaves.
Normanbya is a monotypic genus of palms containing the single species Normanbya normanbyi, which is known by the common name black palm. It is found only in Queensland, Australia. It is threatened by habitat loss.
